Design Story
The Cleft Sconce reimagines the wall light as a geological event. Two stone panels are split from a single slab and mounted with a brass bracket that holds them apart, creating a channel of light. The stone’s natural veining remains continuous across the gap — a reminder that this object was once whole, deliberately broken, then suspended in a state of near-separation. Warm light passes through the rift, casting a glow that changes with the natural texture of the stone.
